IMAP Functionality
Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) is an advanced email protocol for accessing incoming email. SnapperMail™ is an RFC standards compliant IMAP4 email client.
Powerful
SnapperMail Enterprise Edition easily performs all the functionality you have come to expect from your desktop email client:
- browse hierarchical mailbox names on the server when setting up folders on the handheld
- download messages from the Inbox and any number of hierarchical mailboxes on the server
- download messages and attachments of unlimited size
- upload messages from the handheld to any mailbox on the server, for example Sent Items
- move messages between mailboxes on the server (directly, without uploading a downloaded message)
- move messages between different accounts and different servers (for example upload a message from a personal POP account to a work account)
- upload message status: read, flagged, and deleted
- remove deleted messages permanently from the server
Designed for Handheld devices
SnapperMail Enterprise Edition also easily performs the following functionality which is specifically designed to suit the mobile environment and reduce data usage:
- partially download messages (and download the rest if required)
- download only unread messages
- download only messages in a certain date window
- keep messages outside the window on the handheld, but no longer check their status
- perform upload only (no download) on mailboxes such as Sent Items
Easy to Configure
It is simple to set up an account. All you need is:
- server name (for example, imap.gmail.com)
- username (provided by your email service provider, for example, 'yourname@gmail.com')
- password
If you don't know whether the server supports Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) or Transport Layer Security (TLS) you can try each option or contact your ISP or email service provider.
After the account is set up, any number of folders can be set up corresponding to mailboxes on the server. Each folder can have independent settings for download and upload.
